Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 — Arrival in Paro

Arrive at Paro International Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to hotel. Short sightseeing and acclimatization walk. Overnight in hotel.

Day 02 — Paro Sightseeing

Visit Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Rinpung Dzong, and National Museum. Final trek briefing. Overnight in Paro.

Day 03 — Paro to Shana (Trek Begins)

Drive to Drukgyel Dzong and begin trekking through pine forests along Paro River. Camp overnight.

Day 04 — Shana to Soi Thangthangkha

Gradual ascent through forests and yak herder trails. First exposure to altitude.

Day 05 — Soi Thangthangkha to Jangothang

Reach Jangothang Base Camp with stunning views of Mt. Jomolhari.

Day 06 — Acclimatization at Jangothang

Rest day with short hikes for altitude adaptation.

Day 07 — Jangothang to Lingshi via Nyile La

Cross first major high pass (4,890m). Descend to Lingshi village.

Day 08 — Lingshi to Chebisa

Easy walk through yak pastures and traditional villages.

Day 09 — Chebisa to Shomuthang via Gobu La

Steep ascent to Gobu La pass with panoramic mountain views.

Day 10 — Shomuthang to Robluthang

Cross Jarela Pass and trek through remote highland terrain.

Day 11 — Robluthang to Lingmithang

Descend near Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain.

Day 12 — Lingmithang to Laya

Arrive in Laya village, home of the Layap people.

Day 13 — Rest Day at Laya

Acclimatization and cultural exploration.

Day 14 — Laya to Rodophu

High alpine trek through yak camps and rugged terrain.

Day 15 — Rodophu to Narethang via Tsomo La

One of the toughest days crossing a high-altitude pass.

Day 16 — Narethang to Tarina

Long descent into forested valley.

Day 17 — Tarina to Woche

Climb steadily through remote Himalayan valleys.

Day 18 — Woche to Lhedi via Keche La

Cross another challenging high pass.

Day 19 — Lhedi to Thanza

Reach one of Bhutan’s highest settlements.

Day 20 — Acclimatization at Thanza

Explore glacial lakes and surrounding peaks.

Day 21 — Thanza to Tshorim via Gophu La

Cross the highest pass of the trek (5,230m).

Day 22 — Tshorim to Gorsum

Trek through isolated glacial basins.

Day 23 — Gorsum to Nikka Chhu

Cross final major pass and descend.

Day 24 — Nikka Chhu to Tsochenchen

Walk through forests and river valleys.

Day 25 — Tsochenchen to Sephu

Trek ends. Drive to Punakha or Trongsa.

Day 26 — Punakha Sightseeing

Visit Punakha Dzong and surrounding temples.

Day 27 — Return to Paro

Scenic drive back to Paro. Farewell dinner.

Day 28 — Departure

Transfer to airport for onward journey.

Fitness & Preparation

Excellent physical fitness and previous high-altitude trekking experience are mandatory. This trek is not suitable for beginners. Proper acclimatization, endurance training, and mental resilience are essential for success.
